DSU Alumnus Qualifies for USA Olympics Marathon Trials

Dakota State University alumnus Marie Parker Sample qualified for the USA Olympic Marathon trials in by competing in a meet in Sacramento, California in December. Sample finished in 60th place with a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes, 58 seconds, one minute under the women’s United States Olympic standards.

Sample will run in the women’s Olympic marathon trials in April in Boston, Massachusetts along with 125 other qualifiers.

Sample was a six time NAIA All-American in cross country and track for Dakota State. She lives in Marshall, Minnesota with her husband and their three children.
